The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.
The students participated in a "dress down" day to support the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) work in Haiti. CRS, the official international humanitarian agency of the U.S. Catholic Church, has been working to meet the emergency needs of the people in Haiti. They are providing food, water, selter, medical care. CRS is also working to meet the long term needs of the people of Haiti.
Our students raised $882 to support these relief efforts. The effort was aided by an anonymous donation of $100 from a concerned citizen. If you would like to donate to the effort, you can send your donation to the school or to CRS directly. To donate, you can call 1-877-HELP-CRS, donate online at www.crs.org, or send a check to Catholic Relief Services, P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090.

The school-wide fundraiser is on it's way!

Each summer St. Joseph takes on a remodeling or renovating project to better the school building. Last summer’s big projects were; the install of new lockers on every floor, replacement of old windows on the front of the building, remodeling of the old drama room into two new classrooms as well as replacement of old tile with new carpets. This summer, one project was reconstructing the Latin room on the third floor. Previously, this room was portioned off by an old book room to the side. Elimination of this old book room now provides almost twice the classroom space. The center wall was torn down, the old walls were refurbished and new carpet and ceiling tiles were put into place.
Minor renovations were also completed in the chemistry lab. The room was thoroughly cleaned and reorganized. All of the counter tops as well as materials in lab drawers were removed and the cabinets were sanded from top to bottom. Each lab station was restored. New fire proof, chemical resistant countertops were installed. Brand new lab chairs were also ordered. Eventually we would like to completely remodel the science room to incorporate a classroom as well as a lab. However, for now, the room looks like new. We would also like to thank our new science teacher, Valerie Patton, for all of her help in this remodel.
